NC-EWDP-19D is located along a key groundwater pathway
between Yucca Mountain and the Amargosa Desert. This site was selected to define the
number and types of aquifers present in the Fortymile Wash area down-gradient of Yucca
Mountain. The 19D site is the location of the Alluvial Testing Complex testing
facilities. Current plans include drilling injection wells and monitoring wells to
be used in future tracer tests. The lower part of the 19D borehole was deviated and
was partially grouted and redrilled at the same location.
