Purpose:
NC-EWDP-10P is a dual completion piezometer well. Primary technical
objectives include: 1) define valley-fill stratigraphic sequence and groundwater flow
paths down-gradient of the proposed repository; and 2) provide water level
and water chemistry data of alluvium and underlying Tertiary deposits; and
3) support the characterization of transport parameters.
NC-EWDP-10P is located adjacent to the present day channel in Fortymile
Wash and along a potential alluvial flow path from Yucca Mountain to
populated areas in Amargosa Valley. The piezometer well at this
location serves as a monitor well for the multiple screen well NC-EWDP-10S
during aquifer testing. In addition, NC-EWDP-10P can serve as an
injection well during Nye County cross-hole tracer testing at this
location in the future.
