INDEPENDENT SCIENTIFIC INVESTIGATIONS PROGRAM
(ISIP) |
A key
program element of the Nye County NWRPO is the
Independent Scientific Investigations Program (ISIP).
Under the ISIP the County gathers data for independent
analysis of geologic and hydrologic conditions at the
site, and monitors and reviews DOE's scientific
characterization of Yucca Mountain.
Exercising
its on-site representative authority through its
Independent Scientific Investigations Program and Early
Warning Drilling Program, Nye County has established and
demonstrated its capacity to conduct professional,
independent monitoring of the YMP.
ISIP
activities involve drilling and instrumenting boreholes,
analyzing the geology and geochemistry of drill
cuttings, monitoring,
data analysis, and numerical modeling activities to
address the concerns of Nye County. Several
investigations have been conducted under the ISIP,
